Efrat Natan: Whitewash and Tar
Edited by Aya Miron
The versatile artist Efrat Natan, a pioneer of Israeli conceptual art and body art, was the subject of a retrospective exhibition that surveyed more than four decades of creative output. In this accompanying publication, featuring full-page images that were displayed, Natan’s work is discussed from various perspectives. In her opening essay, exhibition curator Aya Miron relates in particular to personal and physical aspects of the artist’s work; Noam Gal examines the relationship between photography and performance; Tali Tamir writes on “Efrat Natan’s Private Cosmology”; and Amitai Mendelsohn unveils Christian iconographic elements in her artworks from the 1970s to the present day.
