Havdallah Plate. Ceramic. Hebrew and Yiddish
Painted Glazed Ceramic
Diameter: 9" / 23 cm
This beautiful plate will add a touch of beauty to your Satuday night table. As the Sabbath departs, a beautiful and ancient ceremony takes place with wine, spices, and a candle. This plate will be a great addition, as the wine is spilled and the candle drips, and we say goodbye to the Sabbath for one more week.
This plate replicates the decorative motifs common among Jews in Central Europe in recent centuries. The text around the edge of the plate is Hebrew, reading Mitzvat Hashem Bara Me'irat Einayim ("The commandment of Hashem is pure, enlightening the eyes") (Psalms 19:9).
The text in the center, inside the Star of David, is Yiddish, reading Gut Voch Und Gut Yahr ([May you have] "A good week and a good year").
