Is there such a thing as “Israeli fashion”? This question, already debated decades ago, is ever more pertinent as the boundaries between “local” and “global” become increasingly blurred. Straddling both the realms of art and of consumerism, fashion is a rich source of information about the surrounding culture, and much can be gleaned from its choice of materials, colors, and designs. This richly illustrated book explores fashion as a reflection of Israel’s cultural and physical landscape, the ideologies that shaped it, the evolution of the local industry, and the ongoing dialogue with the international scene. Published jointly with Steimatzky and Shenkar College in conjunction with a large-scale exhibition at the Museum, the book contains three curatorial essays interspersed with iconic fashion images and rare archival photographs, combining to present a fascinating and visually stunning portrait of 100 years of local fashion.

The book was originally published with four different covers, each featuring a different iconic image relating to Israeli fashion.
