Star of David Bracelet Pendant, Silver
Modeled on an amulet from North Africa, 20th century
Inscribed in the center of this amulet pendant is one of God’s names, El Shaddai; in the surrounding triangles are the Hebrew letters mem, gimel, nun, daled, waw, daled, comprising the words Magen David – Star of David. For hundreds of years, the Star of David symbol has appeared in decorations of religious articles and buildings, as well as on amulets. The magical power of amulets originates in their symbolic shapes or the words and letters inscribed on them, such as the names of God, Biblical verses, or Kabbalist formulas.
